Da king

In memory of the famous actor who recently passed away, I used up a bit more of my meager savings and bought myself a copy of the extended edition of Return of the King. It cost me a quite a lot so I hope my friends understand my not having bought any gifts for them..hehe. I love it! 50 minutess of glorious new footage! Plus just looking at the complete set of extended editions side by side is enough to give this fanboy/geek the shivers.

*imaginary picture of the complete set*

I wish I had a digicam and knew how put pictures in this blog... sana meron dyan mabait na tutulong saakin. tulong sa digicam ha? 'di sa paglagay ng pics sa blog, im sure madali lang yun. donations are very welcome..hehehe

Don't Panic!

Im happy to say that despite my present addiction to pc games, my love of books has recently returned. Though my taste in books has changed (I tend to favor lighthearted, humorous novels, thanks to having my attention span reduced to that of a boy who's been kept in an attic for most of his life and then suddenly brought to toy kingdom), at least I can finally stem the rapid rate of brain cell deaths caused by my pretty much no-brainer work.

My first new addition to my long neglected library was the Ultimate Guide to the Galaxy, a compiliation of books by Douglas Adams, one of which provided the inspiration for the name of my friend's blog. I've always wanted to read that book. I first discovered the book back when I was in Los Banos, I had no idea what it was about.. heck I actually thought it was a real guidebook. I'm not sure why I started reading it, though maybe it was such a big book, almost like a tome, a big blue (or was it green?) tome, a big blue (or green) tome with green (or blue) round laughing aliens in the cover, and if that doesn't say "READ ME!", I don't know what does. Anyway, I was able to read a few chapters and I found the book absolutely hilarious. Sadly I wasn't able to finsh the book. Soon the book faded into a vague memory of something green (or blue) that made me laugh. I heard about the book again a few years later when Jona (the aforementioned friend) told me she read it, after which I decided I REALLY wanted to read the whole book and would spare no expense and effort in getting it. A few minutes later something shiny caught my eye and i promptly forgot about the book.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I chanced upon a trailer for movie version of the Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy and after watching the tralier which gave absolutely nothing away, I decided that I really REALLY wanted to read it before the movie came out. It's particularly important for me to read it before the moive comes out. That way if the movie is a hit I can tell everyone who wants to read the book after watching it "heh, nabasa ko na yan dati pa". It's a pride thing.

It was during my search for the book that I realized how much I missed books, besides those easy reading, popular da vinci tpye books that is (though I do enjoy them). In every bookstore that I went to, I kept going "Ooh! Gusto ka basahin yun!" (Not out loud of course).

Soon enough, a good friend of mine was able to find a copy and a few days later I bought myself that blue (not green) tome with green (not blue) aliens for a decent price. Sine then I've gone book crazy and bought a grand total of... two... books, hehe =)

Having said all that, I really really want to... play some pc games...

Ho ho ho! and a bottle of rum....

I never thought my blog would really become a monthly thing, but I guess when you spend most of your time at work you tend to use your free time for more important things like games and other stuff... mostly games. And boy do I have a lot of those, I recently put my well earned overtime money to good use and bought myself a new GeForce FX 5700 video card, after which I bought all those games I couldn't play on my pc, and now I have more games than can fit my hard disk - Half Life 2, Splinter Cell 2, Pirates!, Prince of Persia just to name a few. Just thinking of the games I've yet to play makes me a very happy man.

Right now I'm playing Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia 1,Need for Speed Underground 2 and Pirates! Strangely, I'm finding myself playing Pirates! much more often than the others... it's weird considering that it's really just a bunch of mini-games (A strange bunch of mini-games at that) tied together by a storyline that you really don't need to pay much attention to. But there's something about being able to pillage every ship and town that you come across that appeals to me... must be in my blood, Arr!!

I can't wait to finish all those games and free up some hard disk space (hmm, I should probably burn the 6 Gigs worth of naruto episods stored in my pc too..) and get to test my system's limit with the supposed gorgeous graphics of half life 2 =)

Ha! A blog with barely anything work related in it! Ye!
